With specialty ales like Spring Rose Doppelbock (made with fresh rose petals) and Brickhouse Brown Ale (a seasonal English style Nut Brown Ale), this Alameda brewhouse is garnering quite a reputation for its finely crafted brews. The interior space of this pub is spare and comfortable with high ceilings and a welcoming feel. All beers are created on-site in their 5.5 BBL brewhouse, and different seasonal beers are generally on tap, pointing up the ever changing nature of the Pacific Northwest. The food menu offers traditional Northwest eats, typical pub fare and seafood. All menu items are made in-house.

PEARL DISTRICT. The ivy-covered brick warehouse that houses BridgePort provides initial indication that this is a cool, upscale brew pub. Inside the voluminous space, patrons gather around large wooden tables, quaffing microbrews and talking about the day. The selection of ales on tap is particularly good, and you can accompany them with the brewery's pizzas, which are made fresh on the premises in a wood-fired oven. BridgePort is a great destination for inexpensive eats after you've done the First Thursday gallery walk around the district, too.

Built in 1915, this architecturally beautiful structure served generations of students before being closed in 1980. Following a series of renovations, it reopened as a neighborhood entertainment facility. These days, it houses a bed and breakfast, restaurant, several bars and a gift shop. Have a bite to eat in the Courtyard Restaurant, sample your favorite vintage in the Cypress Room, or hang out in either the Honors Bar or the Detention Bar, depending on your attitude and inclination. Given the particular venue, you'll find local beers, single-malt scotches, espressos and character galore. Hallways are filled with artwork, and the courtyard gains great appeal when the weather's nice.

This smoke-free microbrewery is a fun place to go for house-brewed beers and delicious sandwiches. The crowd tends to be the upwardly mobile young professionals ready to slake their seemingly endless thirst with tasty selections like Black Lab Stout, Stumptown Porter and Dog Day India Pale Ale. The pub occupies an old warehouse, sporting exposed wood beams, skylights and wood flooring. An outdoor patio is the ideal setting during warm weather months.

Within this great building, complete with high, raftered ceilings and copper brewing vats, is a fun, boisterous pub that serves up terrific food. Craft-brewed beers are the specialty, and the options are fantastic. Among the samplings you'll find are India pale ale, honey beer, Scottish amber ale, lagers, stouts and porters. They also do a great series of seasonal brews. The food, a step above pub fare, frequently incorporates handcrafted beers into the preparation, making a perfect companion to the house beverages. Inside, the Tap Room is open and spacious, the Fireplace Room rustic and inviting. The outdoor heated patio is desirable year-round.
